About us

We are a small locally owned seasonal (April – early October) Bar and Grill located in Ashford at Rainier BaseCamp, 6 miles outside of Mount Rainier National Park. BaseCamp is also home to RMI Expeditions, the largest mountain climbing guide service in North America and Whittaker Mountaineering, a speciality outdoor retail store. Our customers are climbers, hikers, park visitors, and locals, creating a fun high energy environment. Throughout the summer we offer live music every weekend, adding to the cool laid back vibe at BaseCamp.

Overview:

Requires strong management and organizational skills; food/restaurant industry experience and prior management experience. This is a hands-on preparation and customer service position that requires the supervision, scheduling, and training of staff members; ordering of food, beverages, and supplies. This is a full-time position that coincides with the summer climbing season on Mt. Rainier; mid-April through early October. Looking for a strong leader that is willing to jump in the kitchen, on the grill, bus tables, work the register or whatever needs to be done - leading by example.

Responsibilities:

· High-energy individual with an upbeat personality, ability to prioritize, multi-task and mentally/physically move quickly in an ever-changing environment.

· To deliver outstanding customer service. Smile, greet, and make eye contact with customers.

· Responsible for all food and beverage ordering and inventory management to reduce waste while ensuring product quality and availability.

· Hire, train, and direct staff as needed, managing approximately 5-15 employees (varies from early/late to peak season).

· Creating and managing a staff schedule two weeks in advance.

· Update menu selections and pricing (pre-season) in coordination with upper management.

· Be physically able to work an eight (8) hour day or longer while on your feet in a fast-paced environment.

· Establish a positive working environment for employees through effective leadership and communication.

· Oversee cleaning and maintenance of Bar & Grill and BaseCamp area.

· Provide recommendations to ownership to increase sales and profitability through closely monitoring Cost of Goods and making price increase suggestions as needed.

· Money handling, closing till and reconciliation.

· Produce quality food and train staff to do the same.

· Responsible for early season start-up and end of season shut down.

· Responsible for POS system updates as needed.

· Will hold regular staff meetings and set the tone and expectation of excellent customer service and quality food.

Requirements:

· Outstanding customer service, attention to detail and well organized.

· Must maintain high standards of quality control, health and safety.

· Minimum of 4 year's high-volume cafe, extensive food service & management experience, scheduling & inventory.

· Reliable transportation.

· Must have a current driver's license

· Current Pierce County Health Food Card and Alcohol Handlers Permit.

· Background check will be conducted.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Knowledge and compliance with all local, state and federal laws pertaining to health, safety and labor requirements.

· Computer skills - Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google docs preferred. Point of Sale experience a must. Personal computer required.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
