Responsible for direct patient care and the assisting of the physician or mid-level practitioner.

This position will report directly to the Clinic Site Manager.

C. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.

Scheduling and canceling patient appointments.

2.

Checking in and checking out patients.

3.

Answering the telephone in a timely manner.

4.

Verifying patient insurance and demographics.

5.

Collection of co-payments/coinsurance and personal balances.

6.

Collects patient specimens.

7.

Takes patient histories and vital signs.

8.

Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.

9.

Gives injections, and applies casts, splints, and dressings as applicable.

10.

Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization procedures.

11.

Assist provider in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.

12.

Perform other duties as required.

D. QUALIFICATIONS

• Education

a.) High School graduate.

b.) Good customer service skills.

c.) Prefer graduate of a Medical Assistant program, but not required.

• Licensure/Certification

a.) Certification as a medical assistant preferred

b.) BLS required

• Work Experience

a.) Minimum 1 yr working as a medical assistant in a practice. Graduation from a medical assistant program may be substituted in lieu of the 1 yr work experience.
