Summary:

Manages the IT department of the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank (CPBB), and plans, coordinates, and integrates the CPBB network and security modules with current and proposed operational needs and plans of the organization. Works closely with other department managers to develop and maintain SOP’s for network and security functions. Work is performed in accordance with Federal, and state rules, regulations, trade and association group practices, Blood Bank policies and procedures, and in compliance with program objectives provided by the Chief Operating Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Information Technology Department of the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank (CPBB), and supervises a Computer Technician.
  • Plans, coordinates, and integrates the CPBB network and security modules with current and proposed operational needs and plans of the organization.
  • Manages daily operations of the IT department, and coordinates and integrates computer hardware and software programs into the fabric of business operations.
  • Implements the information technology goals of CPBB as established by the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Ensures security of all CPBB software, and assures that organization records and information are safeguarded.
  • Supervises and directs activities of CPBB Computer Technician to ensure proper functioning of CPBB PCs and associated devices.
  • Inventories all software used by CPBB, analyzes this data, and prepares recommendations on the continued use of existing products, upgrading to newer versions, or replacing current software with more effective packages.
  • Manages and integrates information technology operations across departmental lines to prevent duplication of effort and provide access to data that can be used throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates and facilitates all necessary system functions such as daily data back-up, security, software installation, and problem solving.
  • Meets with the Chief Operating Officer to obtain information regarding program needs, future expansion, or other information technology needs such as the development of formal training programs and SOPs that need to be addressed.
  • Meets with department managers to discuss computer system problems encountered, IT issues and concerns, and provides support on any immediate needs in their program area.
  • Monitors the network administration.
  • Oversees the purchase and acquisition of required computer hardware and software to meet organization needs, and works with vendors to evaluate system effectiveness, or software maintenance and integration.
  • Promotes productive relationships with staff through considerate and respectful interactions.
  • Oversees a departmental budget.
  • Performs related work as required or directed by the Chief Operating Officer.

Knowledges, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of information technology principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, donors, visitors, government officials, hospital staff, and the general public.
  • Skill in managing multiple and competing priorities and projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, donors, visitors, government officials, hospital staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement information technology programs, policies, and procedures that relate to the effective and efficient operation of a Blood Bank.
  • Ability to coordinate and evaluate information technology programs and activities to ensure corporate goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of records and reports.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience with core infrastructure components such as TCP/IP, VPN, file transfer and remote administration protocols
  • Professional security management certification, such as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • SANS, GIAC, GSEC certification preferred
  • Router/Switch/LAN experience
  • Firewall/Proxy/IDS experience
  • Client Server/OS experience
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert responsible for deep understanding of network security protocols, configurations and data flow necessary to ensure confidentiality of client information and compliance with applicable standards and procedures
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience & Certifications) in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
