JOB CONTENT:
Perform basic software coding and testing, implement, train colleagues on and document programmed solutions. Perform help desk duties and other departmental operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Pertaining to Programming:
· Study program specifications and use cases to gain deeper understanding of performance expectations and coding requirements
· Develop, code and test programs under the direction of programmer/analysts
· Openly perform reviews of source code
· Collaborate with team to plan for software updates and overall system development
· Assist with stakeholder training
· Create and preserve system documentation
· Assist with internal and external communications and the reporting of project progress to stakeholders
· Develop and maintain Microsoft Excel macros
· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current trends, techniques and technologies
Pertaining to Help Desk Specialist:
· Provide level 2 support to help desk; be part of the team that acts as the single point of contact for all system issues and customer inquiries
· Develop and support queries to meet reporting requirements
· Provide query training to internal customers
· Monitor and correct printer issues
· Troubleshoot stakeholder issues and work with team as necessary to correct
· Answer questions regarding Mystic business rules and logic
· Performs additional duties as requested by management
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· IBM midrange computer experience or equivalent database server experience
· Two-year college degree or equivalent
· Specialized education in computer programming
SKILLS:
· Fundamental database principles (SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE)
· Fundamental programming principles
· Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise a high level of understanding and diplomacy in dealing with internal customers including upper management and IT colleagues
· Microsoft Windows knowledge including directory and file structure
· Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
· Web services/XML/JSON is a plus
· Work well independently and as a member of a team
· Self-starter exhibiting initiative and desire to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities
· Keen desire to work to serve the needs of customers, both internal and external
· Able to lift 40 lbs and move about freely, bending and reaching
· Work overtime as required
· On-call nights and weekends
