INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Information Technology Director oversees the overall daily management and operation of the City of Columbus’ computer/ network systems and technological needs. This position requires working outside of normal business hours as needed.
The successful applicant will oversee the design, implementation, and management of the LAN, including hardware and software, to provide city-wide office automation (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, etc.) for the City of Columbus; develop overall information processing plans and policies for approval for management; provide recommendations for enhanced system capabilities and features based on organizational growth; develop recommendations on related capital and operating budgets for data processing; diagnose and repair computer systems and software, as needed; and maintain the City’s Information Technology inventory; monitor hardware, warranty and support information, software programs and licensing compliance.
The I. T. Director will be required to attend Council Meetings and operate computers, digital needs; maintain and update the City’s web page.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is required. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, installation and upgrading of computer hardware and software.
