Job Description :

Who Are We?

We are a successful family business with a long-term record of steady growth and are determined to accelerate our trajectory. We build products and relationships that last a lifetime! Our diverse team members speak 23 languages and are passionate about their company and their co-workers. Check out our website at www.strong-hold.com.

Our growth is limited only by our ability to recruit new team members and develop current ones; We need a passionate talent leader who loves to recruit and develop people.

We Are Not:

  • Fancy – as manufacturers we believe beautiful facilities aren’t required to make quality products or retain the best team.
  • High Tech - we incorporate technology into our products and processes where appropriate, but it doesn’t drive us.
  • Transactional - we have long term relationships with our team members and most valuable customers.
  • Satisfied - we celebrate achievement, then set our sights on new goals.
  • Remote work friendly - this is manufacturing, the team is physically together and HR has to be too.

What we’re looking for:

  • Passion for Manufacturing. You want to help people who make their living building products with their hands better themselves. You understand you must be physically present and engaged on the factory floor and with office team members to be successful.
  • Experience. 7+ years of progressive HR management roles in manufacturing or distribution organizations.
  • Recruiter. You understand how to manage the recruiting pipeline from beginning to end, including getting the right kinds of candidates to apply in the first place. You know where to post jobs. You understand success rates through each stage of the funnel. If the job descriptions you write don’t feel like this, please don’t apply.
  • Policy expert. You understand the legal aspects of the job well enough to keep hiring managers out of trouble. You can create or maintain company policies on hiring/firing, affirmative action, PTO, workplace safety,
  • Benefits administrator. You are familiar with managing health, dental, vision, and 401K benefit programs. You know what good vendor partners look like and how to run a selection process to find them. You understand how to use carrots and sticks in benefit plans to drive better outcomes for team members and reduce costs. You want your teammates to be healthier and wealthier as much as you hate out-of-control healthcare costs and fund fees in 401K plans.
  • Player/Coach. You’re willing to roll up your sleeves and perform tactical-level tasks to support the team while simultaneously continuing to develop and drive strategy with the company’s leaders.
  • You have experience working with or on a leadership team. You will be asked to drive HR strategy and nest the HR objectives within our overall business strategy. You can tell your boss what she doesn’t want to hear and challenge peers in a staff meeting.
  • Experience transforming junior team members in either a production or office environment into managers using a development program you either created from scratch or executed with excellence. You’re so good at taking care of your own direct reports that your peers seek you out to help them develop high-potential employees. You love this so much you keep up with people who used to work for you and even help your friends and neighbors with career development.
  • You often don’t feel tenured enough for the designation, but people probably call you a mentor.
  • Successful use of your company’s performance management system to further your career and the career of others. You believe in the goal setting- manager review process and an annual ranking of team members.
  • Passion for winning and using metrics to prove it. If you’re not a competitive person, you’re not a fit.
  • Interest in compensation systems. You believe your company either did a good job or paid for performing poorly. You can articulate why and offer recommendations to improve.
  • You know the difference between leadership and management and the importance of each.
  • Lots of patience and high emotional intelligence. The ability and desire to work with people who will challenge you yet see you as a critical contributing team member willing to have fun.
  • You love to improve processes. You establish new procedures or policies and see them through.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
