THE ROLE

The Human Resources Generalist is the champion of our company values, ensuring an engaged workforce, loyal customers, efficient operations, and a bright future for our business.

The HBF Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day Human Resources (HR) support, assesses, communicates, interprets, and administers HR policies and procedures, and partners with stakeholders to foster a positive employee experience through engagement, continued communication, and healthy team collaboration.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, recognition and rewards, and training and development
  • Conducts employee relations investigations, provides coaching, and documents findings
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details, such as employee contact information, job classifications, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Plans and supports company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire orientation, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
  • Processes payroll for workforce of 150+ employees on a weekly and bi-weekly basis; performs a variety of complex payroll processing duties to ensure that employees are paid timely and accurately
  • Conducts regular payroll reporting as required and assists with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger. Produces other reports as requested
  • Ensures the culture and working environment is open, empowering, fair, and equitable
  • Responsible for hourly staffing through onboarding and retention of the right talent with alignment to site staffing strategy
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources on recruitment, new hire processing, job descriptions, diversity recruitment strategies, health and wellbeing initiatives, and other related tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or a combination of work experience and SHRM certification required
  • At least three years of human resources specialist or generalist experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Payroll and timekeeping experience strongly preferred with exposure to ADP, Paychex Flex or like HRIS system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Acts with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
