Position Summary
The Human Resource Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment and records management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all district employees; assists in the development and implementation of employee policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.

Maintains all personnel files and records.

Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.

Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt employees, temporary employees and interns, schedule interviews, conducts reference checks; and extends job offers.

Conducts new-employee orientations.

Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.

Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records. Maintains organizational charts.

Coordinates Open Enrollment for all employees.

On-boards new employees (i.e. create new hire files, offer letters, etc.)

Coordinates and submits requests/claims (i.e. FMLA, worker's compensation and incident reports).

Maintains and/or updates human resource information system records (i.e EIS system and GCN training). Manages ACA reporting.

Creates and distributes overall annual benefits letter (i.e. annual salary letters) for entire staff.

Coordinates background checks for parents and employees. Manages and maintains parent background check spreadsheet.

Plans and coordinates the Annual Wellness program for all employees.

Organizes annual Longevity event.

Responds to employee requests for personnel records.

Supports administrators for the purpose of providing assistance with their administrative functions and District objectives as it relates to human resources.

Creates long and short term professional performance goals to monitor and measure performance progress.

Anticipates potential problems that could impact the district, department and supervisor and the scope of internal and external responsibilities/activities.

Maintains confidentiality of all communication relative to the position, including but not limited to personnel and labor relations issues.

Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations per the district's professional development policy and procedures.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
REQUIRED:

  • A bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience, or a master's degree in HR management and two years of experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem solving.
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision.

PREFERRED:

  • Masters degree
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification
  • Working knowledge of PowerSchool, AppliTrack, EIS and GCN

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a public building. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, but at times can be high.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, fingers, feel objects, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to reach with hands and arms; balance; bend; stoop; pull; push; lift as well as have overhead extension of arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds. Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Salary
Minimum salary $45,000 which will be based on years of experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
