Job Description:

The HR Generalist will be responsible for a range of duties that include but not limited, onboarding and training, performance management, employee relations, interpretation of personnel policies and procedures, LOA/benefits administration, and employee relations in accordance with our core values and overall objectives of the organization. Essential Functions:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Lean in and provide great feedback, ideas, and suggestions to improve HR process and programs.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Train or guide the work of other team members
  • Prioritize and adapt to changing priorities
  • Manage confidential information, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, peers, and external partners
  • Work independently with limited direction
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in related field required
  • Startup experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HR management including but not limited to principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political processes
  • General knowledge of HRIS systems, experience in Paylocity a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and project management skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, GPHR certifications preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or MBA preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in related field preferred
