POSITION TITLE: Senior Graphic Designer/Art Director

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Marketing Intern

POSITION PURPOSE
To concept, design and art direct collateral, packaging, advertising and sales materials that creatively and consistently reflect the company’s brand identity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Main Functions: Responsible for seeing all projects through to completion. Front concept and design to production.

• Works closely with the Marketing team to create collateral, promotional and advertising pieces.
• Designs and produces reproduction-ready visual graphics, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, slides, charts, plots, diagrams, tables, sketches, isometrics, viewgraphs, posters, signs, and certificates. Also knowledgeable in multimedia design, video graphics and editing.
• Support the management team in creating necessary sales material.
• Works with the Sourcing & Planning Team to develop packaging for all products.
• Works closely with the VP of Creative on the design and production.
• Assist in planning and art directing photo and video shoots.
• Available to go on press checks.
• Video Production and Animation for multimedia Projects.
• Assumes responsibility for performing functions. Supports Awards program
• Supports development program
• Support training classes
• Support annual sales retreat/cruise
• Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Studies layouts, sketches or proposed illustrations and related materials

• To become familiar with assignments.
• Discusses illustrations at various stages of completion and makes necessary changes.
• Maintains records of all projects
• Follows company policies and procedures
• Maintains an appropriate level of confidentiality regarding information

that is processed.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS Advanced knowledge of personal computers.

• Knowledge of data gathering techniques to obtain technical and administrative
• Good communication and coordination exist with Company personnel. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators and facsimile machines.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred, including, or supplemented with, course work in art or commercial art.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge and experience with standard software and hardware (Mac OSX) applications, including QuarkXpress, In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and MS Office, Apple Motion, DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Ten + years working within a design firm or other. Creative team environment.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated advanced graphic design skills and a thorough knowledge of graphics production techniques and reproduction/printing processes.
• An aptitude for completing detailed, varied, and simultaneous graphic design assignments and a demonstrated commitment to meet schedule requirements.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team of design/editorial staff.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving few variables.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percent's and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, adjectives and adverbs. Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses; and using a good vocabulary.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
