Position Summary

The Graphic Design Instructor will be responsible for providing technical instruction for student enrolled in the Web and Graphic Design program. Course content areas may include Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. Additional responsibilities include verifying student competencies, Student advisement and retention, maintaining student records, and maintaining contact with area employers. This position works under the direction of the Program Coordinator/Program Director.

Essential Functions

• Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean and productive learning environment.

• Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance on students.

• Advance the retention of student in support of achieving program membership hour goals.

• Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting program placement and certification goals.

• Maintain contact with area employers; elicit feedback regarding curricula and industry trends.

• Develop annual professional development plan and participate in professional development activities.

• Motivate and advise students in the areas of appropriate work behavior, training or study habits. Assist counselors, supervisor, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.

• Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits.

• Support programmatic and College marketing activities.

• Work cooperatively within the College community.

• Control the use of equipment and supplies; recommend purchases.

• The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of four years of combination of related work experience and post-secondary education in related area.

• Preference will be given to those individuals that have teaching experience.

• Experience with the Adobe CC Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is highly desirable.

• A preference may be given for knowledge of Premiere, XD or similar UI/UX tool, typography, print, and web design concepts like HTML5 and CSS.

• Familiar with word processing, Microsoft Outlook, and can operate a Windows-based personal computer.

Physical Requirements:

• Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

• Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Additional Information

Working Hours: Two(2) to three(3) evenings per week.

Evening class hours are Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
