Job Role/Summary:
This role is responsible for managing Grote’s capital investment, fixed asset, and leasing policies, procedures, systems(s), accounting and reporting.This includes capital investment reporting and analysis, fixed asset and lease database management, compliance with US GAAP (globally) and budgeting / forecasting of capital expenditures and depreciation.This position will analyze financial statements for discrepancies and reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Additional responsibilities include preparation of month end accruals, timely completion of the month end close process and quarterly and annual schedules for external auditors.A successful senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and systems.

Job Responsibilities:Essential & Secondary Functions:Safety:

  • Responsible to follow all safety procedures and practices.

Quality:

  • Ensures and maintains the quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are consistently followed throughout the manufacturing operation.

Responsibility & Customer-Focused:

  • Set up new employees, account mapping, and maintence in Certify software. Train all new employees T&E process.
  • Process T&E on the 15th and last day of the month through Certify, audit transactions, record journal entry, research unclassified expense for proper classification.
  • Code employee credit card statement by adding specific employee subledger number for Accounts Payable.
  • Approval of daily allowance credits before processing by AR department.
  • Audit of weekly freight bills from outside logistics companies for proper account coding.
  • Perform monthly close processes and record journal entries
  • Prepares journal entries for monthly gross sales and net sales adjustments
  • Prepare, check, and distribute monthly financial statements.
  • Audit of quarterly sales rebate/marketing allowance checks for proper account coding before processing by AP department.
  • Works with sales management to make sure the proper sales allowance rates are being accrued monthly.
  • Analyze and reconcile activity in assigned GL accounts
  • Prepare year-end reconciliations for submission to external auditors
  • Prepare information schedules to assist external tax preparers in completion of annual income tax returns for Inc. and LLC
  • Assist with forecast as related to the capital plan
  • Develop forecast for real estate and personal property tax expense
  • Set up JP Morgan credit cards and Wex fuel cards for new employees as necessary and enter terminations.
  • Set up new suppliers in E1
  • Maintain US records of fixed asset activities in all subsidiaries including appropriate detail to substantiate total capital expenditures vs. other activity in each company; maintain USD records of depreciation activities in all subsidiaries, including appropriate detail regarding eliminations of depreciation expense
  • Update property roll forward for all subsidiaries
  • Maintain all property-related policies, procedures and forms
  • Prepare and distribute Capital Expenditure vs Forecast and Customer Tooling reports
  • Conduct physical inventories of fixed assets per scheduled cycles and randomly
  • Prepare annual personal property tax returns; make semi-annual real & personal property tax payments
  • Handle miscellaneous filings for entity reports and various census reports.
  • Prepare monthly business/sales tax returns filings and payment per due dates
  • Submit capital equipment draw request to bank as needed

Other Functions:

  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Systems – Expert systems skills, including ERP, Oracle planning tools & PowerBI, and all Microsoft Office products

Education, Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses:Degree or equivalent experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Accounting with 3 – 5 years of direct accounting work experience
  • Associates degree in Accounting with 5 – 7 years direct accounting work experience, including fixed asset management

Years of experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct accounting work experience, fixed asset management strongly preferred

Training in:
US GAAP, Strong technical computer literacy including MS office, advanced Excel skills, ERP preferably JD Edwards E1 and Oracle

Licenses in:
CPA or CMA preferred but not required

Other requirements:
Must successfully pass any pre-screening test(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge in:
Competent working knowledge of JD Edwards ERP system, Spreadsheet Server, Distribution Manager, Certify T&E, Sage Fixed Asset Accounting, DIS Indiana PPT+ and Microsoft Office applications

Skills in:

  • Strong Excel Skills (formulas, pivot tables, graphs), Power Point and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to analyze financial data and clearly and concisely document and communicate the interpretation of the financial analysis

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Team player with ability to effectively communicate with those from the shop floor through senior leadership, conveying accounting data in a clear, concise and understandable way
  • A self-starter who works well and obtains results under limited supervision
