JOB TITLE: Pen Rider

About us:

We are a progressive 5th generation family farm, encompassing a 5,000 acre footprint in Saunders County with cow/calf, cattle finishing, and conventional and organic row crop. You will:

• Utilize and safely ride a horse through assigned pens daily and identify and treat sick animals
• Assist in receiving, processing and shipment of cattle
• Move cattle from one area of the yard to another
• Safely operate farm equipment as needed, including wheel loaders, skid steer, telehandler, trucks, tractors and mowers
• Report observed pen maintenance issues and repair as needed
• Alerts supervisor to possible problem pens through observance of unusual trends
• Work with consulting vet to improve the overall quality of our animal health program

About you:

• Ability to furnish gentle horses (must be approved by animal health manager) and tack
• Knowledge of cattle breeds and characteristics
• At least 2 years general feedlot and/or animal health experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn to use animal health software
• Desire to perform jobs with precision and accuracy
• Ability to or desire to learn how to troubleshoot problems
• Flexibility to work varied hours should shipping necessitate it.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
