Elk Products, Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Embedded Software Developer to help lead a small team of design engineers in the Electronic Security and Home Automation industry. Candidate should have strong background in all aspects of electronic design and embedded software development. Our products include embedded devices based on microcontroller architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and test efficient, high-quality embedded code
• Development of the engineering team through recruiting talent and mentoring, leading, and empowering your team to deliver quality solutions
• Develop and drive long-term strategy for the engineering department according to corporate and product strategy
• Provide a point of focus for customer/product issues communicated by the Product Manager and Technical Support Manager
• Ensure software development best practices are established, to provide predictable and stable product delivery according to agreed upon schedules
• Oversee third party development of Mobile Apps (IOS/Android) and Web/Cloud development
• Manage engineering budget and costs

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a Major in Computer Science
• Strong proficiency in the “C” programming language, proficiency in the additional programming languages is a plus: C++, C#, Linus, JIRA, Java/JavaScript
• Knowledge or experience developing software using wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Z-Wave, and Bluetooth
• Experience with Eclipse based development environment and debugging or other embedded development environments
• Preferred experience or knowledge with the following: SQL/MySQL, XML, JSON, Database Design
• Deep technical knowledge, an action-based philosophy to solving difficult engineering problems as well as leadership skills to the role
