Job Summary
ExoTerra is microsatellite company specializing in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. The company develops Hall Thrusters, propulsion modules, microsatellites and launch vehicle upper stages. We have been awarded multiple propulsion module and satellite contracts and are in need of an Embedded Firmware and Software lead to manage a small team of programmers and develop software and firmware for our power processing units, power management and distribution systems, actuator controllers, and microsatellites.
Responsibilities and Duties
Embedded Firmware and Software group lead. Manage the daily activities of a small team of programmers and subcontracted efforts. Provide technical oversight and coordination of the activities.
Serve as the technical expert. Establish software architectures and roadmaps for projects. Perform programming and debugging as needed. Mentor junior programmers.
Support projects throughout the entire program lifecycle, including concept development, programming, testing and flight operations. Coordinate with customers and project management on requirements, budget, schedules and manpower needs.
Work in a team environment, with a focus on day to day and weekly planning, scheduling, and executing assembly and test activities with management of multiple Spacecraft programs occurring simultaneously as they are processed through the manufacturing and test facilities
Prepare or support SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR and MRR presentations to the Customer
Work in a fast-paced team environment leading the integration and testing activities of flight software.
Work with Systems and Design Engineering to support verification planning and testing
Collaborate with program management, system and subsystem engineers, quality, technicians, and other program stakeholders
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree - Software, Firmware or related field
10-20 years experience
Experience with Embedded Firmware Programming
Experience with Embedded Firmware Test and Debugging
Experience with electrical power system control
Good written and verbal communication skills
US Citizen
Desired Skills
Experience with Spacecraft Software
Experience with non-conformance resolution
