What You’ll Do:

  • Develop embedded software using C on bare metal or embedded operating systems
  • Utilize advanced development/debugging tools, e.g., C compilers, linkers, in-circuit debug, logic analyzers and more to evaluate and test embedded application performance and security
  • Participate in all aspects of the product design life cycle including system architecture, design, development, and verification
  • Document design and results
  • Work individually and with a team to complete tasks

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to get a security clearance
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • More than 3 years professional experience in embedded software development
  • Experience using embedded processor architectures such as ARM, Microblaze, NIOS, RISC-V, PowerPC, or similar processors
  • Demonstrable expert programming ability (C/C++, assembly, scripting)
  • Knowledge of low-level computer architecture (CPUs, Memory Management Units, IOMMU, serial buses)
  • Experience with FLASH programming, boot loaders, board bring-up and debug
  • Ability to clearly capture complex technical concepts in writing for both technical and general audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Working knowledge of applied cryptography
  • Experience applying principles of cyber security to operational technology and embedded systems
  • Experience reverse engineering hardware and software
  • Expertise using Xilinx Vivado
  • Expertise in additional software programming languages, e.g. Python
  • Embedded system design experience
  • Operating systems experience

  • The preferred work location is at Idaho Scientific headquarters in Boise, Idaho or in Salt Lake City, Utah

Pay: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
