Small, family owned and operated, auto repair, bus, and rubbish recycling business is looking to hire a replacement for our soon to be retiring Diesel Mechanic Manager.

As our Diesel Mechanic Manager, your main responsibilities are to make sure that our fleet of 14 school buses and 1 rubbish packer are working and maintained regularly. Well-rounded, current Diesel Mechanic knowledge and experience is a must. You will help manage 2 mechanics that will help you perform the required daily maintenance tasks and repairs on cars, buses and trucks.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Track fleet usage and maintain accurate inventory of equipment

- Maintains a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road. Chassis component repair and maintenance. Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; and air and hydraulic braking systems. Engine repair and maintenance. Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems. Heating and air conditioning.

- Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the Company's equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner. Identifies the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools.

- Assist in the development of maintenance budget by providing input relative to policy, costs and established metrics.

- Carrying out all government and environmental statutory regulation on fleet to avoid infractions that may cause disturbance on daily sales and transfers.

- Ensure the maintenance and repair records are accurate, organized, and completed with the required frequency.

- Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency and implement corrective actions as required.

- Prepare regular weekly and monthly maintenance reports and parts usage reports for management appraisal as required.

- Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

- Establish schedules and methods for providing fleet maintenance and repair services in a timely fashion and within-budget constraints.

- Define and oversee fleet maintenance work projects.

- Coordinate outside vendor fleet repairs by identifying and placing orders for repair/replacement parts for vehicles and equipment.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
