Responsibilities


The Cloud Engineer will design, implement, optimize and manage OPPD’s public cloud systems, environments and infrastructure. The Cloud Engineer will respond to incidents, optimize throughput, ensure availability and monitor utilization of Azure, AWS and other cloud providers. The Cloud Engineer will also establish standards and enforce governance through cloud provider and 3rd party policy and security tools. Design, implement and maintain role based access controls. Regularly interact and collaborate with team members, business teams and other IT teams to ensure a successful public cloud service adoption. Gather requirements, assist with implementations and migrations. Ensure OPPD’s public cloud environments meet the OPPD security and GRC requirements. Be a team player. Stay up to date on public cloud services and capabilities. Constantly review security, currency, performance, licensing and cost indicators and remediate recommendations.

  • Perform conventional, intermediate level engineering assignments that would take approximately three to six months to complete.
  • Provide assistance and work across project teams, practice areas and technical team. Ability to collaborate on projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in internal technical communities, be proactively responsive.
  • Ability to contribute to the implementation of related technologies and understand their dependencies.
  • Proactively provides process improvement and or standardization.
  • Owns the successful technical delivery of assignments.
  • Analyze customer business requirements, prepare designs and specifications. Proactively help customers make decisions around features and capabilities.
  • Design, construct, configure, and maintain all services in Azure, AWS and other public cloud providers.
  • Plan and execute end-to-end implementations of target workloads including the testing of solutions and system integrations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of existing and emerging public cloud capabilities and changes.
  • Develop and update PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible and or other scripts to facilitate provisioning, operations and administration.
  • Coordinate with other teams to identify proper thresholds and actions to maintain monitoring standards.
  • Identify appropriate monitoring levels prior to triggering thresholds.
  • Draft procedural documentation defining and outlining thresholds and action plans to address.
  • Train/facilitate discussions cross functionally to ensure new plans are understood and adhered to.
  • Maintain cloud environment monitoring platform, trending, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Collaborate to develop standards, frameworks, and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Implement and manage Azure, AWS and other public cloud service lifecycles.
  • Maintain and operate public cloud services / workloads. Monitor services to ensure they are up to date, ensuring support from the cloud provider.
  • Perform analysis on what services need updating and by when, update roadmap documents.
  • Utilize configuration management tools to maintain consistency of systems, devices, and applications
  • Coordinate with the required resources and plan timelines for maintenance/update activities. Follow change management processes.
  • Perform break/fix analysis and troubleshooting. Meet incident and request ticket SLAs. Escalate as needed.
  • Research and apply vulnerability remediation
  • Research and remediate recommendations for public cloud security, cost, compliance, performance, etc.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR the successful completion of an Information Technology trade school program OR 1+ years of experience in the design, configuration and operation of a public cloud environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to collaborate with resources across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience implementing, administering and monitoring public cloud services in Azure, AWS and or other public cloud providers.
  • General experience with Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services and or other identity solutions such as Okta or Ping.
  • General experience in a wide variety of technical areas including, but not limited to: application deployment, configuration management, workflow automation / orchestration, process automation
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (LAN, WAN, SDWAN, VLAN, Routing, etc.)

Desired:

  • Experience with automation in Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, JSON, Python and or other languages.
  • Experience with automating various tasks as well as generating custom reports.
  • Experience with public cloud cost management, security best practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with certificate provisioning and management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Authenticator and or other multi factor solutions.
  • Certifications in Azure, AWS and or other public cloud technologies.

Closing Statement


Salary Grade: S4

Minimum: $83,870

Maximum: $125,804
