The law firm of Javier N. Maldonado & Associates has an immediate opening for an experienced bilingual (English/Spanish) immigration legal assistant. Our team prides itself on providing high quality legal assistance to immigrants in the areas of family reunification, naturalization and citizenship services, and removal defense. The legal assistant assists the attorneys in completing and documenting all types of immigration applications and court filings; communicates with clients to provide them information and request documents; translates documents from Spanish to English; maintains attorneys’ calendars; searches for and requests criminal and civil records; coordinates immigrant visa processing and assists with preparing clients for immigrant visa interviews; works with other team members to provide telephone backup; maintains digital and paper files and payment records in accordance with firm procedures; translates for clients at immigration interviews.

Qualified candidates must have 2+ years' working experience as an immigration legal assistant, strong writing skills, must be fluent in Spanish (written and oral), knowledgeable of MS Word, highly organized and detail oriented.
