ABOUT Aces Pickleball

Located in Norwood, Aces will be a first of its kind Pickleball + Kitchen Facility. Identified as the fastest growing sport in the country, pickleball is quickly becoming a favorite sport for folks of all ages. Aces will have membership opportunities for folks who want to enjoy the facilities on a more regular basis as well as being open to the general public for walk up dining and gaming. Aces will not only host regular play and dining throughout the week but will have a full calendar of events and tournaments throughout the year. In addition to regular play, Aces also has a full time professional team of instructors and coaches that can provide private lessons for guests and members alike. In addition to Pickleball, the facility will have a full service restaurant and bar along with a variety of additional lawn games, TV’s for sports viewing as well as live music and special events.

This full-service hospitality consulting, experience design, and F+B service operations alliance has been built to be an employee-owned venture and will offer the opportunity for employees to earn ownership stakes in the business as a new way to be engaged in the hospitality industry. JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee the running and daily operations of Aces Pickleball + Kitchen restaurant operations in the absence of the General Manager. This includes ensuring that everyone involved with Aces in the restaurant FOH and BOH teams delivers a high standard of service and that the venue is delivering quality, producing amazing guest experiences and creating a positive work environment while supporting the company in ensuring food and labor costs allow for the restaurant to operate at a profit. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will work with the Kitchen Manager and the Beverage Manager in planning menus for special events curated by the STHRN leadership team. This position is responsible for hiring and managing FOH team members, scheduling to meet forecasted labor goals, and managing ordering and inventory to meet food cost goals. Please note that this is a hands-on position - our expectation is that the Assistant Manager will be working in any capacity needed to ensure the successful executions of FOH operations.

SALARY & EXPECTED HOURS

The base salary for this position will be between $50,000 - $55,000/yr, depending on proven experience plus bonus potential based on a percentage of quarterly profits. The Assistant Manager will have access to a robust benefits package including health insurance, paid time off/leave, and a reasonable work/life balance. The anticipated workload is not to exceed 55 - 60 hours per week once the restaurant is up and running and labor is stabilized and functioning on budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Manager’s responsibilities at Aces will include the following key aspects and must ensure the candidate:

  • Conducts oneself in a professional and ethical manner
  • Avoid legal challenges by conforming to the regulations of the Department of Liquor Control
  • Assist the General Manager with the overall restaurant operations.
  • Maintain the facility while upholding our standards of cleanliness and excellence in hospitality.
  • Directs, implements and maintains a philosophy congruent with Aces Pickleball + Kitchen culture, which serves as a guide to respective staff.
  • Ensures the delivery of only the highest quality food, prepared and served to maximize guest satisfaction
  • Coordinates the purchase of all paper goods and restaurant items following proper purchasing requirements and ensuring the restaurant stays within budget each month
  • Maintains complete knowledge of all menu items.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of daily features and 86'd items and supports the training and regular informational download with hourly staff
  • Ensures each work area is stocked with specified tools, supplies, and equipment to meet business demands
  • Establishes daily priorities and assign production and prep tasks to staff
  • Ensures that staff maintain and strictly abides by state and local health department regulations and requirements
  • Responsible for all aspects and functions of managing the restaurants personnel
  • Ensures shift changes are smooth by communicating all necessary information in incoming manager and staff
  • Ensures all staff closing duties are complete before an employee leaves and manages any closing managers to task to ensure these duties are completed
  • Addresses turnover issues and practices proven retention techniques for ensuring well trained staff
  • Retains a complete knowledge of all Aces technological tools (inventory and operations management POS systems, accounting resources, shared drive systems and manual procedures)
  • Ensures the entire team has a complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Develops daily features - including costs & written recipes
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with all departmental standards, policies, and procedures (ensuring all FOH and BOH staff fully understand and follow the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Conducts FOH new hire orientation and training in accordance with established training programs on an ongoing basis
  • Conducts weekly one-on-one with staff for ongoing training and ensures growth and development of direct reports.
