POSITION SUMMARY:

Successfully works alongside the Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to assists in the scope management of assigned projects ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget and to the General Contractors specifications. Assistant Project Managers will be required to develop the traits necessary to become a Project Manager in the future if and when the company need arises.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Clean driving record
  • Entry level knowledge of the architectural woodwork business including but not limited to cabinets, trim work, and solid surface
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings and cut lists
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Internet, Facebook)
  • Intermediate Ability to multi-task and keep up-to-date with knowledge of project process
  • Ability to work under supervision
  • Math skills such as adding, subtracting, division, fractions and decimals
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to use a tape measure
  • Team player
  • High attention to detail
  • Clean and neat appearance

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review all project scopes prior to hand off meeting – note any challenges
  • Aid in managing information to/from all departments: drafting, engineering, manufacturing and installation
  • Communicate with drafting manager and project drafter on what the expectations and needs are for given projects
  • Aid in shop drawing review process prior to submittal to customer
  • Attend work order release to verify/release to production as necessary
  • Aid in Identifying long lead time items
  • Aid in furnishing Purchasing with preliminary and final material requirements for job when necessary
  • Aid in monitoring and addressing long lead time and back order items - adjust communication to appropriate parties accordingly
  • Aid in field measurement process with Project Manager and Project Superintendents
  • Aid in creating and managing change order requests
  • Aid in maintaining accurate information by regularly communicating with General Contractor
  • Aid in coordinating installation schedule with Installation Manager and General Contractor
  • Attend jobsite meetings
  • Work within the confines of budget and know projected contribution margin
  • Aid in creation of schedule of values on individual projects as necessary
  • Assist Project Manager in working closely with accounting department with regard to billings
  • Aid in coordinating subcontractor for installation with Installation Manager
  • Request bids, review feedback and help award outsourced scopes to sub-subcontractors
  • Treat each internal and external customer respectfully and communicate both good and sometimes “not so good” information when necessary
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards personal, department and company goals
