How does the position contribute to the success of the operation, division and company?
Performs financial activities of Fruitland, ID Millwork Plant as directed by the site Controller or through subordinate staff. Supervises and coordinates activities of staff accountant/accounting clerks.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures What measures or metrics will the individual be measured on and what level of performance is required?
· Coordinates monthly and annual financial closings -
o Prepare all Journal Entries and month-end tasks for Controller review.
o Preparation of account analyses and supporting schedules for BSR and Variance analysis.
o Preparation of financial statements and commentary for review by Plant Controller.
· Prepares monthly financial statements including site comparative P&L, Trend Statement, Global Yield Report, hourly incentive metrics.
· Oversees weekly reconciliation and processing of GR/IR by site accounting clerk as well as the clearing of prepayment of inventory or capital investments.
· Works in conjunction with Transportation Management to ensure all freight orders are settled and closed in the fiscal accounting period to which they pertain.
· Updates, maintains, and reconciles fixed assets and capital spend projects and provides updated actual vs budget spend to Engineering, Maintenance and Site Managers.
· Performs and coordinates various annual budget activities as directed by site controller. Provides support to managers and supervisors in completion of individual budgeting assignments for their cost centers. Enters data into VENA as directed by site controller.
· Determines daily work procedures and work schedules for staff accountant and accounting clerks. Completes annual performance reviews of staff accountant.
· Works to improve the standard accounting procedures to consistently meet all financial and reporting deadlines as defined by the site controller and works with the site controller to meet all corporate reporting requirements and deadlines.
· Prepares the audit pack for the annual audit for review by site controller.
· Prepares LIFO schedule for site under the direction of Site Controller.
· Prepares AVG Lumber cost calculation monthly for review by Site Controller.
Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training
What skills/certification/education must the individual have/maintain/gain? Include any degrees, certifications, and licenses required.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
· 1-5 years’ experience in Staff Accountant level or above, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· CPA and/or CMA designation preferred.
· Comprehensive knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles.
· Minimum of one year of supervising experience.
· Requires basic skills that may or may not be transferred.
· Capable of working independently; occasional interaction with other functions (individuals).
· Understand written or verbal instructions with the capability of accepting responsibility for interpretation and/or solving.
· Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills presenting a positive representation of the company.
· Able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
· Capable of being confidential with information pertaining to payables.
· Able to perform under stress when confronted with deadlines.
Reporting Line and Supervisory Responsibilities
Reports to Fruitland Controller. Works closely with managers and supervisors in providing support and the development and maintenance of operating procedures. Coordinates closely with Plant Controller and Staff Accountant and Corporate Accounting Manager involving period-end activities. Supervises accounting staff.
